Tirau Tennis Club is a community-based tennis club located on Station Road in Tirau, offering social tennis and coaching. We have a strong focus on community engagement and providing a welcoming environment for tennis enthusiasts in the area.
2024/2025 Club Fees
Tennis subs are due by 1st of November 2025
Students $65
Seniors $130 if paid before 1st of November 2025. $140 if paid after 1st of November

Casual Players $15 per night

Social Tuesday's
What's On
Mondays
9:30am -11:00am ladies tennis. Join us for a doubles game, followed by coffee afterwards.
Tuesdays
Social Tuesdays start back on the 30th of September 2025. These sessions run until the end of daylight savings. Tennis kicks off at 6:15pm and runs until late! Come on down to the club and have a hit of doubles tennis.
There is also a Winter crew of Tuesday goers. Please message us through Facebook if you would like to join the Winter fun.
Coaching
Junior and senior coaching starts back on the 21st of October and runs until 9th December.
Coaching runs from 3:30pm until 6:15pm.
Various age groups.
6-8 year old group 3:30pm- 4:00pm
9-11 year old group 4:00pm - 4:45pm
Teenage group 4:45pm - 5.30pm
Adult group 5:30pm - 6:15pm
Coaching Fees:
6-8 year olds $65
All other groups $80
This is for 8 lessons and the lessons run rain, hail or shine.

Coaching
We have been lucky to secure Andrew Irving to coach here in Tirau.
"I grew up playing tennis here in Hamilton. Once high school ended, I left for Texas on a work/play scheme at the John Newcombe tennis Academy. While at the Academy I received a bunch of scholarship offers and decided to play at Division One University of Texas Pan American. While playing at university I was a multiple time Southland conference player of the week and was 2nd team all-conference doubles multiple times.
After University I stayed in the states and worked for Cliff Drysdale tennis and progressed from a camp coach to the head adult pro at Stratton Mountain (#1 tennis resort in the USA), and Lagorce Country club.
I came home and was the head coach at Lugton park for 2 seasons before the chance to travel and work came again. This time going to Canada to coach at the Atlantic Tennis Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Helping build a successful junior academy, and booming adult tennis programmes in the 6 years.
Now back home in Hamilton, I am keen to work with all levels of players and hope to see the game of tennis grow in the Waikato."
Coaching will start again on Tuesday October 15th 2024 with coach Andrew. Coaching will run for 8 weeks. Please get in contact with Janet to secure a spot.
